Slipknot<\/a> percussionist Clown has spoken out in favour of AI<\/a>, which he says he thinks of as \u201ca professor in my pocket who only wants to do what I ask it\u201d.<\/p>\n The artist \u2013 real name Shaun Crahan \u2013 has said in a new interview that he is \u201cemploying AI 190 percent\u201d and he\u2019s been using it \u201cmy whole life\u201d, thinking of it as a tool that can be helpful to musicians. In addition, he also claims to have used it to transform \u201cthousands and thousands\u201d of poems he\u2019s written since he was young into something else. \u201cNo one needs to use it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n \u201cHere are my words,\u201d he offered as an example to The Escapist<\/em><\/a>. \u201cDon\u2019t change them. Don\u2019t alter them. But show me some different ways to sing it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s the difference between me pulling out my pocket producer\u2026 or me trying to get a famous producer that might not even work with me and could potentially cost me $150,000\u2026 who will only give me one or two ways \u2013 I\u2019m not mentioning any names!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s still going to take me to sing it. And it will never be like it was,\u201d he said, before adding: \u201cNone of it can work without you, the human. It\u2019s a giant oracle\u2026 but it needs you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n By contrast, Crahan\u2019s bandmate Corey Taylor<\/a> revealed in 2023 that he \u201ccan\u2019t stand\u201d AI-generated music.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care for any of that crap dude, to be honest,\u201d he said when speaking to\u00a0Kerrang! Radio<\/em>. I don\u2019t know what people are trying to prove. Are they trying to prove that computers can do things just as good as people? Because if so, then what\u2019s the point?,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n In other news, earlier this month Crahan said that he hopes that Slipknot will release their long-delayed \u201clost\u201d album \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019 next year<\/a>.<\/p>\n They have teased the eventual release of the album since 2019, when\u00a0Crahan said that the band were readying the release<\/a>, and\u00a0Corey Taylor later added that he \u201ctried like hell to make those worlds come together\u201d<\/a>\u00a0to complete the project. Meanwhile, Root has mentioned that\u00a0he has threatened to leak it on multiple occasions<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a Discord Q&A, he said (via Kerrang!<\/em><\/a>): \u201cI know I told everyone it would be this year. I\u2019m very sorry it hasn\u2019t been. Things come to play that change things all the time with the art we create. I want you to know 2026 is the year. It\u2019s just simply time and I\u2019m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith.
