Danny Ramirez will not be returning to\u00a0The Last Of Us<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and his role of Manny will be recast.<\/p>\n

The actor is unable to return to the show for its third season due to scheduling conflicts, it has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Ramirez appeared as Manny Alvarez in four episodes of the show\u2019s second season, which aired earlier this year. Manny is a former member of the Fireflies, a rebel militia, a friend of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) who helps her enact revenge on Joel (Pedro Pascal) for the massacre he carried out on the Firefly hospital to save Ellie (Bella Ramsay).<\/p>\n

The next season of\u00a0The Last Of Us\u00a0<\/em>will, like the game series, focus on Abby. It is expected, therefore, that characters like Ellie, Dina (Isabela Merced), Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna) and Isaac Dixon (Jeffrey Wright) will return.<\/p>\n

It was confirmed earlier this year that season three will \u201cdefinitely\u201d air in 2027, but the number of seasons remaining is still unknown.<\/p>\n

Showrunner Craig Mazin had previously said the show could run anywhere between three and five seasons \u201cbut\u00a0four seems like a good number<\/a>\u201d. After the end of season two, Mazin went on to say there was\u00a0\u201cno way to complete this narrative\u201d with just one more season<\/a>. \u201cHopefully, we\u2019ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That\u2019s the most likely outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

However, HBO CEO Casey Bloys has now revealed season three of\u00a0The Last Of Us<\/em>\u00a0might be the last.<\/a> \u201cThe series is definitely planned for 2027,\u201d he told\u00a0Variety<\/a><\/em>. \u201cCraig is still working it out whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. It hasn\u2019t been decided yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
