South Park<\/em><\/a> writer Toby Morton has revealed that he bought the Trump-Kennedy Center domain names months ago to troll US President Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n Back in February, the US President was elected as chairman of the centre. He announced his plans to change the venue\u2019s programming and remove several members of the board of trustees. He also\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0at the time he would put an end to what he viewed as \u201cwoke\u201d productions taking place.<\/p>\n Then, earlier this month, the board that presides over the Washington D.C. arts centre, which is closely allied with Trump, voted to rename the building as the Trump Kennedy Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, Morton has revealed that he predicted the name change and bought the rights to both trumpkennedycenter.org and trumpkennedycenter.com back in August.<\/p>\n \u201cAs soon as Trump began gutting the Kennedy Center board earlier this year, I thought, \u2018Yep, that name\u2019s going on the building,’\u201d Morton told the Washington Post<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThe rest followed on schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n Morton didn\u2019t reveal how he plans to use the domains he purchased, but teased, \u201cIt\u2019ll absolutely reflect the absurdity of the moment. Lots of surprises. Some things are truly hard to parody, though.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Kennedy Center has always been a cultural institution meant to outlast any one administration or personality,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s meant to honour culture, not ego. Once it was treated like personal branding, satire became unavoidable.\u201d<\/p>\n While the writer said he hasn\u2019t been contacted by the Trump administration asking to buy the domains from him, he shared that he has gotten inquiries from \u201ca few random lawyers confidently explaining that satire is illegal now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n Earlier this year it was reported that the\u00a0producers of the musical\u00a0Hamilton\u00a0<\/i>had cancelled their production at The Kennedy Center<\/a>, due to Trump taking control of the venue, while in June, Trump was greeted by drag queens and\u00a0booed during his first visit to the Center since installing himself as chairman<\/a>.<\/p>\n The president of the Kennedy Center is currently seeking $1million from musician Chuck Redd<\/a>, who cancelled a Christmas Eve show over the building\u2019s name change.<\/p>\n Elsewhere,\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel delivered a scathing anti-Trump alternative Christmas message for UK viewers<\/a>\u00a0on Channel 4 this week, saying: \u201cfrom a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year\u201d.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, South Park\u00a0<\/em>has made headlines this year for poking fun at the President throughout their latest season. Storylines have\u00a0depicted him in a relationship with Satan, having a micro penis<\/a>, and\u00a0having sex with Vice President J.D. Vance<\/a>.
