John Lydon<\/a>\u00a0has said his former\u00a0Sex Pistols<\/a>\u00a0bandmates did not reach out to him when his wife Nora Forster died.<\/p>\n The punk icon lost his wife of\u00a0nearly five\u00a0decades in April 2023<\/a> after a long battle with Alzheimer\u2019s disease, and the final two years of her life saw him serve as her full-time carer.<\/p>\n In a new interview with\u00a0The Times<\/i><\/a>, Lydon \u2013 who went by the name Johnny Rotten during his time with the Pistols\u00a0\u2013\u00a0claimed\u00a0that he did not receive any message from either guitarist Steve Jones,\u00a0bassist\u00a0Glen\u00a0Matlock<\/a>\u00a0or drummer Paul Cook after Forster\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n \u201cI expected some kind of connection when Nora died, but nothing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/a><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n Shortly before she passed away, Lydon spoke emotionally about his devotion to her,\u00a0 explaining that her battle with Alzheimer\u2019s helped \u201cshape him\u201d<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cAll the things I thought were the ultimate agony seem preposterous now,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s shaped me into what I am. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever get over it. I don\u2019t see how I can live without her. I wouldn\u2019t want to. There\u2019s no point.\u201d<\/p>\n Relations between Lydon and his former bandmates have been frosty in recent years, with the singer\u00a0being openly\u00a0critical of their decision to\u00a0take the band back on the road <\/a>and enlist former Gallows frontman\u00a0Frank Carter in Lydon\u2019s place<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s almost malicious in its intent,\u201d he told\u00a0NME\u00a0<\/i>last year. \u201cAnd\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0karaoke \u2013\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0all it will ever be. Bloody hell, The Three Stooges in that band have had how many years to write some new songs?\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0what\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0like to hear.\u201d<\/p>\n In further comments in May<\/a>, Lydon added: \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0weird. [It\u2019s] a dumbing down of all the integrity, intensity, genuine\u00a0honesty\u00a0and heartfelt emotions I put into that band.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOf course,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0karaoke, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0like\u2026 Come on,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Carter,\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0not Johnny Rotten, I am.\u00a0Right? Stop it,\u201d he added, before going on to name the one thing about the new\u00a0frontman\u00a0that got his seal of approval: \u201cI actually think he took it on in the right spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n The Pistols and Carter played\u00a0a series of shows at London\u2019s Bush Hall last year<\/a>, and they have since gone on\u00a0to play tours around the UK<\/a>\u00a0and beyond.<\/p>\n In October,\u00a0Matlock also suggested that they \u201chave ideas\u201d for making\u00a0new music\u00a0with Carter<\/a>. \u201cEveryone has ideas, but we\u2019re very busy at the moment and haven\u2019t had a chance to really work things out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n NME\u00a0<\/i>also asked Jones about the possibility earlier this year<\/a>. \u201cI think if you do anything new and you\u2019re playing it live, that\u2019s when people go and get a drink,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen was the last time you heard a good Rolling Stones song?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think you really have a window when you\u2019re young, where you\u2019re really creative and you\u2019re on the ball. When you\u2019re older, I think it runs out.
