However, volume two\u2019s conclusion, <em>Chapter Seven: The Bridge<\/em>, is among the show\u2019s worst received.<\/p>\n<p>The episode, which saw the heroic group of friends prepare for one last battle on the anniversary of Will Byers\u2019 (Noah Schnapp) disappearance, has scored 6.7 out of 10 from 22,000 votes. At the time of writing, it is the second worst rated episode, above only 2017\u2019s <em>The Lost Sister<\/em> (six out of 10). The highest rated episode is currently season four\u2019s <em>Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The series as a whole has also struggled for fan appreciation. It currently has a 67 per cent audience rating on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/stranger_things\/s05\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><em> Rotten Tomatoes<\/em><\/a>, a sharp drop from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/stranger_things\/s04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">89 per cent rating for season four.<\/a> Critics have been kinder, with an 84 per cent \u201cfresh\u201d rating from journalists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/tv-reviews\/stranger-things-season-5-volume-1-review-millie-bobby-brown-david-harbour-3912866\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>NME\u2019s<\/em> review of volume one described it as \u201cthe big, bold beginning of the end.\u201d<\/a> \u201cPerhaps inevitably, volume one feels a lot like an appetiser for the rest of the season\u201d writes Nick Levine. \u201cBut even in piecemeal form, <em>Stranger Things<\/em> has a flair for epic and emotionally resonant storytelling.
