Barry Manilow<\/a> has confirmed he will be having surgery to remove a \u201ccancerous spot\u201d found on his lung.<\/p>\n

The singer had been suffering from bronchitis for several weeks and the cancer was caught out of \u201cpure luck\u201d on a precautionary MRI scan. He confirmed the cancer had been caught early enough for him to not need chemotherapy or radiation.<\/p>\n

\nIn a statement on Instagram, he said: \u201cAs many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n\u201cEven though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.
\n\u201cThe MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That\u2019s the good news.\u201d\n

Manilow said that he will need to reschedule his arena shows planned for January so that he has time to recover, but is \u201ccounting down the days\u201d until he can return to performing. The rescheduled shows will take place between February and April 2026.

\nPrior to these shows, Manilow had been playing his final US arena tour<\/a>. He also\u00a0played what were billed as his final UK dates last year<\/a>, including a residency at the London Palladium.<\/p>\n
