Paul McCartney<\/a>\u00a0has paid tribute to the late Rob Reiner, saying life can be \u201cso\u00a0unfair\u00a0and this tragedy proves it\u201d.<\/p>\n The 78-year-old filmmaker and his 68-year-old wife, the photographer Michele Singer-Reiner, were found dead inside their home<\/a>\u00a0in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles on Sunday (December 14).<\/p>\n The LAPD confirmed that they were investigating the deaths as an \u201capparent homicide\u201d, with reports suggesting that the two suffered wounds consistent with a knife attack.<\/p>\n Earlier today (December 15),\u00a0it emerged that the couple\u2019s 32-year-old son Nick Reiner\u00a0had been arrested in connection with their deaths<\/a>. He is said to be in custody on $4million (\u00a32.9million) bail.<\/p>\n McCartney made an appearance\u00a0in Reiner\u2019s final film,\u00a0Spinal Tap II: The End Continues<\/i><\/a>, which was released in September this year. In the movie, he shows\u00a0up during Spinal Tap\u2019s rehearsal sessions, offering helpful advice and telling Reiner\u2019s character Marty that their song \u2018Big Bottom\u2019 is \u201calmost literature\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/a><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n Today, McCartney posted a personal tribute to Reiner. Alongside a photo from the film\u2019s shoot, he wrote: \u201cWhat a tragedy the death of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, is. It is so shocking in many ways but for me especially so, because over the last year I\u00a0had\u00a0been working with him. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much.
