Amanda Seyfried<\/a> says she thinks socialism is a \u201cgorgeous idea\u201d.<\/p>\n The actor made the comments during a new interview with Variety<\/em><\/a> about her role in the upcoming musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee<\/em>, which chronicles the life of Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker religious movement.<\/p>\n \u201cThank God we\u2019re talking about Ann Lee so much, because there\u2019s a direct relationship to what she created and what we\u2019re lacking,\u201d Seyfried said in the interview. \u201cHow about we all don\u2019t have any kind of agendas? How about our agenda is take care of each other?<\/p>\n \u201cSocialism is a gorgeous idea, and I know it doesn\u2019t work perfectly, or that people understand what the word actually means,\u201d she continued. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s taking care of each other. If I have more money, I can spend more money on other people.\u201d<\/p>\n Seyfried then went on to draw a parallel between Ann Lee\u2019s 18th-century communal utopian lifestyle and the aftermath of 9\/11. \u201cEverybody dropped everything for each other. People sacrificed their lives without a thought in the world,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd we shouldn\u2019t have to have a meteor or a house-on-fire situation in order to drop everything for each other. That\u2019s just what we are as human beings.\u201d<\/p>\n The actor continued: \u201cWe all want to be seen, we all want to be loved, we all want to be desired. We all want to win at things. We all love money. We all love our children. That\u2019s right. Both sides, all sides. So, what is the greed? How does the greed help you? How does the defensiveness help you?
